David French, Michael Davidson, Fabio Ragnelli and I have a new quartet. We are two gigs old. Two weeks ago, we assembled in the Tiki Room at the Tranzac and recorded 6 of my songs with my pal Patric McGroarty engineering. Pat does great work, and you should hire him. He’s posted one of the songs from the session (‘adldmbdld’) on his SoundCloud page. Check it out.

We are playing on Thursday, May 24th at the Tranzac at 11. Hope to see you there.

5. JOS. FORTIN

So Far

The most beautiful song on this week’s List belongs to this Peterborough singer-songwriter. Formerly the frontman for rock band These Bright Young Things, he has unplugged for his first solo album, which leads off with a spiralling melody line that sounds like a slowed-down variation of Godley & Crème’s “Cry.” Aficionados of the quiet intensity of, say, Ohbijou or Timber Timbre should feel right at home.
